Egyptians Pyramids

The pyramids were first covered with shiny marble layer which contributed to their monumentality and truly presented the greatness of the pharaohs. This made the pyramids visible from the mountains in Israel. Unfortunately, this layer was destroyed during an earthquake in 1301.

Sagrada Familia, Spain

The construction of this cathedral began in 1882. Its creator, Antoni Gaudi, envisaged that using the technology which existed in the 19th century, it would require 400 years for its completion. Since the construction is financed from donations, they postpone the time of construction even more. Thanks to the modern technology, today the cathedral is 70% complete and is expected to be finished in 2026, on the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death.

Statue of Liberty, USA

The creator of the statue is Frederic Bartholdi, who modelled the statue after his close relatives. The face was motivated by his mother whereas the body by his wife. The interior of the Statue was designed by Gustave Eiffel, the creator of the Eiffel Tower.

It was a gift from the French People on the occasion of the alliance between the two countries.

The construction of the statue lasted 9 years and it is consisted of 350 individual pieces. The colour of the statue was not green, nor was the idea that it should be green. It has a green patina caused by the oxidation of the copper skin.
